DID YOGA ORIGINATE IN EGYPT
Hotep! (peace),
I hope you are well. It’s been another week, and I’m back with another episode in the series called EXPOSING WITH LIGHT. Why did I name the series this? Because, my mission is to bring to light the darkness that prevails over the legacy of our ancestors. This is my lifelong undertaking, and I am happy to provide for you another way out of this deception called the matrix. Without any further delay, let’s get right to it!
Yoga is it from Kemet (Egypt)?
The short answer is no. Now, you may be asking yourself why? I did the same thing years ago after coming across a book by the famous Muata Ashby called, “SACRED SEXUALITY: ANCIENT EGYPTIAN TANTRA YOGA.” Though overall a good book for beginners transitioning out of religions and other forms of mind control ideologies put on blacks at birth, it still does not disclose the entire truth about our history pertaining to “yoga.” However, my focus today is not about Dr. Ashby. It is about another brother who has become famous and wealthy off of deceiving the public about our ancestor's traditions. As a disclaimer, I have nothing against someone making money or becoming popular, even doing it with the practice of yoga. My problem is ALWAYS with someone doing it without properly honoring the truth about our ancestry and the ancient black families that came before us.
Who is Yirser Ra Hotep?
In order to understand one’s teachings, we must first find out where his teachings originally came from. Yirser Ra Hotep, is a host of things pertaining to an old custom of deception and lies. He claims to have learned Kemetic Yoga from his teacher Dr. Asar Hapi. During my diligent research, I could not find much about him. However, what I did find was very interesting and will be found in the weekly podcast I uploaded here below, so make sure to check that out for more clarity. What I discovered is that after being trained by all types of religious gurus back in the early 1970s, he finally created what is now known as Kemetic Yoga.
I also came across a picture from his time as a host on BBS Radio, that prominently shows the star of David, a well recognized Jewish symbol. He also claimed that the Merkabah was of African origin. The merkabah or known as a chariot, from Ezekiel 10:14, is another Jewish creation. Finally, his other host, is a Jew named Aladyah Hanon. Are you starting to see a pattern here? But, enough about Dr. Hapi, let’s focus on his student Yirser Ra Hotep.
What exactly is his claims about Yoga originating in Egypt?
His first claim is: We find on his website (link in show notes) on the page, “History of Kemetic Yoga,” 5th paragraph from top, the first sentence reads, quote, The people of ancient Kemet practiced a unique style of Yoga that predates the Yoga of India. His rational for this is the hieroglyphs themselves, he mentions in a video I will break down in part two of this series, that the different positions of the Neteru (Goddesses/Gods) are yoga poses. This of course is not true for the fact the word yoga was not invented until 1820, from its root name is *yeug, which means yoke, to join. We would need to reference the Metcha-t Neter or the hieroglyphs to see what the word for yoke, to join, is. And when we find it does not say Yoga! If you watch the podcast below, by clicking the link at the bottom of this post, you will see what that word is and a complete breakdown of the meaning.
He admits that Yoga images of Kemet can not be found in India…
His second claim: which can be found on his website, on the page, “History of Kemetic Yoga,” 5th paragraph from top, the second sentence reads, quote, Fact is examples of Indian Yoga can be found in Ancient Egypt, but examples of ancient Kemetic Yoga cannot be found in India. This is a lie. Here is why...remember, earlier when you read that he’s using hieroglyphic poses of the Neteru to prove that yoga existed in Kemet? Even though there is no reference to the word YOGA anywhere on a papyrus, stele, relief, or glyph!

The reason why in India, there is no mention or pictures of the Neteru in yoga poses is because Kemet did not create it. The official record for the practice of Yoga (Nadi) is 200 B.C.E. - 500B.C.E., in Gerald James Larson’s book, “The Encyclopedia of Indian Philosophies: Yoga: India's philosophy of meditation,” he mentions this - This is a quote from the author, Gerald James Larson, pg. 36, “If the ‘Yoga is everywhere’ perspective is untenable, the ‘Yoga is nowhere’ position hardly fares better. There can be no serious doubt that a ‘Patanjalayogasastra’ emerges as a technical philosophical system in the first centuries of the Common Era (ca.200C. E.through 500C. E.).” He goes on to say, “The various technical traditions of Indian philosophy (Hindu, Buddhist, and Jania) are all beginning to take shape in this period, each one centering around a founding figure and collection of utterances…”
There you have it. Prior to the 2nd century there is no mention of this spiritual way of life called Yoga other than maybe the Vedic texts (this is not certain because it was passed down orally, but accepted by scholars). Which are collection of poems or hymns composed in Sanskrit. These are not glyphs or poses as seen in yoga. And it still originates in the Indus Valley or India, not the Nile Valley or Kemet.
Let’s move forward...
Next, I wanted to clear up some confusion about the chakra system, specifically the Anahata heart chakra. For those of you that do not know what a chakra is, it simply means a wheel or circle. There are seven of them that run from your head (crown) to your sexual organs (root). They are your emotional (vibrational) energy balance system. Maybe in the future I will do a podcast on them. For, now, let’s focus on where the idea for the heart chakra came from. This particular chakra comes from the Metcha-t Neter word Heter,** which means to join, a relationship. People who practice yoga know that the heart chakra helps to improve our relationships with ourselves and others. In Kemet the Het Ba was the House of the Soul. It was also another name for heaven. Yoga can make us obtain a state of bliss (happiness), another name for it is, again heaven!
**It gets deeper…
The original meaning for heaven meant the SKY. This meaning came from Kemet, because the sky or Nut (metcha-t neter name) was seen as a cover over the earth, hence Het Ba.
Okay, so what does this have to do with the heart?
The root word for Heter, which means relationships and Het Ba, which means heaven, is HET. And guess what it means? Yep – HEART! Your Het or heart is the house of your soul which is heaven. And being blissful or happy puts you in a state of heaven.

However, I’m not finished yet! Let’s go!
Your heart is supplied by voltage through the sinus node, which is your cells using electricity (light) to communicate with the muscle to pump spontaneously 72 beats per minute (or 12 beats every 10 seconds). 72 is a magical number that is sacred to the Great Neter Tehuti. To our ancestors and me, light and magic are what create the world around you. We know the more enlightened we become the more magic we can create, and therefore while our emotional states improve we can better our relationships with ourselves and others to the point where we no longer need to depend on outside influences to dictate our path to bliss.
