This week’s podcast, in case you missed it, was about “How theology stole the BA from Kemet." If you are new and unfamiliar with the way I teach, that is good, because it means you will be more (open) to learning than those who have degrees and self-proclaimed titles within the community of Egyptian history. First, when I speak from the ancestor's culture, I use their words and meanings as much as possible. When I speak about Ancient Egypt, I refer to it by its proper name before Greek influence, which is Kemet. The word Kem means black. Within the hieroglyph, it has a person. This is common sense that if Kem means the color black, and it has a person in the ancient glyph, then the word Kemet represents a select group of people in a nation. Yes, the (t) represents land, however, in the sense of a nation of people no different from today, in the United States you would not call me a United States, but a person representing that nation. I will expound further into this fascinating topic in a future post!

Moving forward…

Theology, first, is not an ancient word or practice in ANY ancient brown culture. Matter-of-fact, it was first used in, the mid-14th century. This is nowhere near the time of the great cultural nation now known as Ancient Egypt. This means did any of the ancient peoples every hear or follow theology? Well, let’s find out the meaning of the word first, and for that we will have to go to the etymology, specifically from the Online Etymology Dictionary (a great tool to have in your research arsenal).

According to the etymology of theology, it means: the science of religion. The philosophical study of the Christian doctrine. Most of us know that Christianity was not around during the ancient dynasties of the Egyptians, and if you did not, please contact me for further info on that, but I will assume those of you reading this post know that when Kemet was in full capacity and worship that they never heard of a Christian person or deity. So, I would like to focus on the root of this misnomer taught by so-called Khemetic teachers within our community, so you will not be deceived any further.

The root of theology means *bha. Which means to shine, a ray of light. This root also describes the color of your skin – melanin, which comes from the Greek word melas which means black!

Now...ask yourself, how did the Online Etymology Dictionary know bha meant light?

By going to the ancestor's literature and reading the EXACT words that described the word for light in the Metcha-t Neter or Hieroglyphs. When we look at the Per Em Heru, now referred to as the Book of the Dead, pg lxvi, Introduction, (I’ve attached a picture below for reference) it says, “Behold Pepi this, thy soul is the soul of Annu; behold thy soul is the soul of Nekhen; behold thy soul is the soul of Pe; behold THY SOUL IS A STAR living, behold, among its brethren.”

The soul which was originally named BA is a living star. What is a star? It is a very large mass of photons giving off light across what is called the electromagnetic spectrum. Let’s use our sun for example, which is considered a “white” star. The atmosphere of Earth makes it appear yellow. As a white star, its temperature is the hottest, averaging around 5,800 Kelvin according to an article by Universe Today (link will be below).

Okay, great...so why is this important?

Again, using the ancestral wisdom of the scribes in Kemet, we see they knew something else that was important for one’s BA to navigate here on earth. See, Tehuti or known to many as Thoth (Greek version), was represented by the Ibis bird. And this particular species from the Nile Valley uses it’s curved beak to find its prey. When we go to the Metcha-t Neter (picture is below for reference) we see that the BA means light using the symbol of Tehuti which is the Ibis, and it also shows the symbol for RA (sun = star) which is the circle and dot.

What this tells us is long before there was a practice called theology or even a word for it, the Greeks used the ancient writings of the scribes in Kemet to build their reference for Christianity’s version of the soul. Religions mention the soul as light for many reasons, but no one knows why? Or where the source of it comes from until now!

Yes...you are the light of this world, Black woman and Black man. Why? Because you literally emit light from photons, that compose the very DNA that created your physical body. Photons are information. And they are part of what created this existence we call “life.” This is why Kemet based its spirituality on returning to their “roots”, and modern blacks use this terminology as well. Our roots are with the stars!

In conclusion, no, theology was not practiced by the people of Kemet. And anyone who has taught this is deceiving you. The Greeks took the BA and created the Christian religious concept of the light of God being from Jesus, when in fact the light is YOU. And, finally the Neter Tehuti produced wisdom from this very same light that is composed of you, meaning after some time if you continue to study and research your ancestry you will realize the Neteru (Goddesses/Gods) are us.
